Primary Purpose of Position
This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades). The position is considered to be fully functioning in the Plumbing trade area. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work. This position may also be allowed to perform/learn another trade discipline. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components in assigned zones.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Essential Job Duties
The FM Tech Mechanical Trades (Plumbing) performs under the direction of the Plumbing Shop Supervisor.
- Responsible for performing routine maintenance on plumbing systems to ensure efficient operation of building systems.
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical problems and determining corrective actions by consulting blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as needed.
- Utilize a range of tools, including common hand and power tools.
Other Work Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team of facility maintenance technicians and assist with various tasks.
- Follow instructions and work under supervision, completing tasks competently and professionally by industry standards.
- Communicate effectively with customers and managers, delivering high-quality customer service in alignment with university policies and procedures.
- Keep track of my daily activities by recording them in an order-tracking system called Archibus.
- Additional duties as assigned to support all operations.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Basic experience in plumbing or mechanical trades preferred.
- Ability to foster and create a team-oriented atmosphere.
- Proficient in English, including reading, writing, interpretation, comprehension, and interpersonal.
- Proficient in using Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and able to learn/use different technologies.
- Ability to effectively work and interact with individuals from different backgrounds.
- The selected applicant must be able to perform the essential duties of the role, both mentally and physically, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.
