Position: Director of Curriculum and Instruction
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
Reports to: Head of School
Purpose: To provide K-12 leadership in the ongoing development, assessment, and improvement of the curriculum, instructional program, and professional development for the school.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Curriculum
- Identifying and implementing curriculum resources that best meet the needs of our students.
- Coaching and supporting teachers to improve the quality and effectiveness of instruction in a way that builds morale.
- Stay current with state and national changes in curriculum.
- Facilitate collaboration at grade level, content area, or vertical planning meetings.
- Facilitate purchase of curriculum requests including the use of state and federal grant funds.
- Analyzing data and leading data-driven decision-making.
- Conduct classroom walkthroughs with feedback and engage in the coaching cycle with teachers.
- Serve as a liaison between administration and instructional staff.
- Assist with lesson planning that is standards-based, rigorous and differentiated.
- Contribute to staff morale through support, communication and follow through.
- Assists teachers in supporting students in the MTSS process.
- Supports lesson planning for student subgroup populations: AIG, ML, IEP, and EDS
- Assists in scheduling peer-observations for teachers.
- Plan, schedule, and present differentiated PD for staff that’s aligned with school needs and goals.
- Facilitate and schedule professional development team planning meetings.
- Attend local, regional, and national conferences and communicate information back to relevant stakeholders.
- Be viewed by colleagues as a content expert and life long learner.
- Build capacity in support staff and school leadership.
- Establish partnerships with local colleges and universities to assist in building a teacher pipeline.
- Assist with scheduling that sets all students up for success.
- Supports Principals with strategic planning and goal setting.
- Supports teacher recruitment and retention.
- Presents school data and information to the school board as requested.
- Fosters a reflective and collaborative culture among teachers.
- Attends and contributes to monthly Principal’s Meetings.

Desired Training and Hands-On experience
- Shall hold a Master’s Degree or higher.
Shall have a minimum of ten years teaching and/or supervisory or administrative experience within the past eight years.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
