What are the responsibilities and job description for the AMD Technical Specialist position at United Ohio Insurance Company?
General Summary :
The Auto Material Damage Technical Specialist assists the claims team and customers by handling basic to complex damage estimates for vehicles that are involved in a claim. The position will also occasionally handle Auto Material Damage claims.
Essential Functions :
1. Acts as a resource to customers and claim representatives for all types of damage to vehicles involved in claims.
2. Reviews, writes, and audits estimates; negotiates with body shops and service departments.
3. Negotiates parts prices, labor costs, necessary operations, and excluded damage with body shops and customers.
4. May handle first party Auto Material Damage losses, including investigating coverage and liability, establishing damages, and issuing payments. During CAT events and times of high-volume workload, the frequency of handling these claims may increase.
5. Completes risk reports to notify Underwriting of unsafe vehicles or unrepaired damage.
6. Research manufacturers recalls online for subrogation opportunities.
Marginal Functions :
1. Attends training classes, seminars, and training either in-house or at off-site locations.
2. Participates in continuing education.
3. Attends monthly and quarterly meetings
Minimum Qualifications :
- College degree or equivalent work experience
- ASE Certification a plus
- 5 or more years of claims and / or auto repair related experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of estimates, vehicle parts and components for all makes and models.
- Knowledge of various computer software for estimating damages.

Limited supervision. The nature of the work is such that it is performed to a large extent on own responsibility after assignment, with some choice of method. Occasionally develops own methods.
