Position: Vice President of Senior Services, Community Initiatives
Reports To: Senior Vice President, Community Initiatives
Job Summary
Assists with the management of the day-to-day operations of Senior Services in Community Initiatives. Works closely with and supervises program directors and program activities in the Meals on Wheels of Central Alabama and United Way Area Agency on Aging programs.
Responsibilities
- Direct program operations to meet budget and other financial goals Monitors and tracks performance against goals for each program and grants
- Direct short-term and long-range planning and problem-solving to support program goals Monitor performance goals of programs and program staff
- Ensure collaboration among internal programs and services
- Participates in grant and proposal writing processes in support of program objectives
- Works with SVP and finance to help create budgets and analyze spending against budgets to ensure spending is within budget
- Represents the department in community meetings and campaign speaking engagements as needed Knowledge of all Community Initiative programs and requirements
- Participates in and oversees Community Initiatives’ Continuous Quality Improvement Plan for MOW and UWAAA
- Assists with strategic planning for programs and provides oversight of implementation
- Ensures direct execution of agency and departmental operating policies to support objectives related to the delivery of services, risk management, quality control, fiscal compliance, and organizational compliance
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Knowledge & Skills
- Solid working knowledge of human services, programs and grant management
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Computer proficiency with Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook applications
- Organized, self-motivated, goal-oriented, team player
- Genuine interest in the United Way mission
Education/Experience
- Master’s degree in social service-related field (MSW, MS, etc.) preferred
- At least 5 years of experience, with program management-level experience in a human services field; License preferred
- Direct social service/case management experience preferred
Requirements
- Valid Alabama driver’s license Reliable transportation
- Proof of automobile insurance commensurate with State law
- Background checks to include but not limited to criminal record and drug screen
- Normal office environment with some travel required
