Job description
· Coordinate and oversee all Driver and Fleet operations aspects, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching drivers.
· Utilize drivers’ hours of service and availability to optimize fleet performance and efficiency.
· Monitor and maintain fleet maintenance schedules to ensure vehicles are in optimal condition.
· Collaborate with drivers and logistics manager to streamline transportation planning.
· Manage shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
· Perform data entry tasks accurately to maintain up-to-date records.
Requirements
· Proven experience in driver management, dispatch or related field.
· Strong knowledge of transportation planning and logistics operations.
· Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
· Proficiency in systems like Eroads, Samsara and Excel.
· Strong data entry skills for maintaining accurate records.
· Knowledge of Trucking/ Tank Trailers/Capacities/Commodities.
· Knowledge of DOT regulations pertaining to drivers and equipment.
Job Duties:
· Ideal candidate must be able to read, write and speak English
· Ability to lead/coach and be the direct point of contact for drivers.
· Answer a high volume of driver-related calls fielding questions on load schedules, load information, directions, help breakdowns, and equipment repairs and maintenance.
· Minimize driver turnover by building strong relationships with each driver with a professional, respectful demeanor and a focus on driver success.
· Identify any potential customer service issues and notify appropriate parties.
· Analyze driver schedules and build routes, optimizing hours of service (HOS), mileage and truck capacity.
· Work with internal and external customers to arrange delivery appointment times, gather direction and any special instructions required.
Additional Functions:
· Ensure efficient turnaround for loads working with Logistics Manager to identify potential back-hauls to minimize driver down time.
· Implement Driver contingency plans to secure on-time deliveries in the event of breakdowns or accidents.
· Monitor routing to ensure DOT compliance regarding all DOT regulations and HOS requirements.
· Ability to work on call after hours as required to manage driver issues, breakdowns, spills and accidents. (potential for night or weekend work).
· Maintain Driver DOT Records in the JJ Keller system
· Maintain vehicle maintenance records
