What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician II position at University of Houston-Clear Lake?
The Maintenance Technician II performs general maintenance of the university facilities. Assists other trades with plumbing, electrical, mechanical and construction. Works with small electric motors, plumbing, electrical or pumps and various types of welding and cutting equipment. Employee will be expected to develop skills and attend training as outlined by the department to become proficient in several trades.
Duties:
- Performs general building maintenance.
- Works with other trades to learn new skills which may include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, welding, small motor repair and construction.
- Performs moves and coordinate surplus.
- Assists with new construction projects.
- Attends formal training and performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- One year of maintenance work experience in a commercial setting.
- Knowledge of general building maintenance
- Knowledge of determining when areas need attention.
- Knowledge to maintain a safe environment.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools as well as to inspect and diagnose problems.
- Technical knowledge.
- Ability to learn a variety of new skills both hands-on and in classroom.
- Ability to understand and perform math for measurements and calculations.
- Ability to maintain equipment.
- Clearance of criminal and motor vehicle checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with small electric motors, plumbing, electrical or pumps and various types of welding and cutting equipment.
Vocational or Trade School certification.
