What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lacrosse, Head Coach, Women's position at University of Saint Joseph?
This position provides leadership for the students/athletes who participate in varsity sports and physical education at University of Saint Joseph. The position calls for the person to generate enthusiasm for the sport and teach a team and a sportsmanship approach to students.
- Administers and develops all aspects of the NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse program including: recruiting, retention, technical and tactical development of the team, in season conditioning programs and training, scouting, supervising assistant coach, maintaining budgets and fundraising
- Provide a positive role model and leadership to the team, as well as excellent communication skills
- Plan season competition schedule, coordinate travel, plan and conduct practices.
- Effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays the University and its programs, personnel, and mission. Maintain a high level of professionalism on and off the field toward student-athletes, other coaches, parents, administrators, and members of the community.
- Monitor and manage the women’s lacrosse budget and program resources.
- Participate in department fundraising initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with all University, GNAC and NCAA Division III rules and regulations
- Perform game management duties in off season.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
- 2-3year's experience in coaching at the college level
- Other Qualifications
- AED, CPR, and First Aid certified
- Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
- Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
- Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population.
- Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
- Professional, courteous demeanor and appearance; ability to engage positively and work professionally with students, faculty, staff and administration and represent the University professionally to the public.
