Summary: Coordinate assignments and schedules of bus drivers, routes, and vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation to all faculty, staff, and students. Assist the Manager with the daily operation of the shuttle system.

Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the State where the applicant resides and must be insurable as defined in the UT System UTS 157, as applicable to the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Assignments of bus drivers, bus routes, vehicles and substitutes for morning and afternoon shifts.
Meet with the drivers at the beginning of their shift to convey plans and instructions for their shift.
Dispatch drivers, vehicles, and equipment for the shifts. Report exceptions to the supervisor.
Handle 2-way radio communication with drivers and maintain a log of all interactions.
Drive routes for absentee coverage, for university sponsored events, and route service as needed.
Coordinate vehicle and equipment repairs with the shop and vendors.
Assist with verifying invoicing accuracy of vendor billing for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Meet with the supervisor for operation planning on a regular basis.
Gather data on route adherence, including schedule and route stops. Provide reports to supervisor on a regular basis.
Review and ensure extra and/or overtime hours; are documented and submitted for approval.
Assist with route mapping and coordination of charter shuttle service.
Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and schedule vehicle maintenance and repairs for the shuttle service operation.
Assist with ensuring drivers comply with regulatory mandates to maintain their commercial driver’s license (CDL).
Utilize shuttle service software systems to enter vehicle repair and maintenance data, GPS tracking updates, passenger counting, vehicle route assignments, and monitor driver vehicle inspections.
Performs minor maintenance, cleaning of vehicles, and fueling vehicles.
Must be able to work flexible schedule.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Minimum Experience required: Two years related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with passenger endorsement or higher.
