Position Summary

Recovery Place Seattle is an Inpatient facility for patients living with substance use disorder who need medical detox. Registered Nurses will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of medical and clinical professionals to administer safe and therapeutic treatment to clients. The Admissions Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe and therapeutic care and coordination of services through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position supports and promotes a recovery-oriented, person-centered treatment experience through the provision of safe and therapeutic nursing services to clients by means of assessment, diagnosis, and care planning. Milieu management and crisis de-escalation are also integral components of this nursing role


Essential Job Functions (This is not the job in its entirety)

• Primary accountability for Admissions and Screening:

• Assess and screen for medical appropriateness for admission/readmission into detox.

• Works and collaborates with local emergency departments and other community referral sources to screen patients on the phone.

• Performs patient admissions into the Withdrawal Management Services program.

• Collaborate and communicate with the Intake Department about screenings and admissions.

• Provide hands on assessment care to patients during the admissions process

• Assess patient's medical status and refers as necessary.

• Evaluate patients’ needs assessment and initiate care plans upon patient admission and readmission

• Communicate orders to others timely to ensure timely receipt of medications and order implementation

• Prioritize RN responsibilities independently or with supervision based on patient care needs, unit milieu, and number and classification of assigned staff available to provide care.

• Collaborate with Nurse Manager, Licensed Practical Nurses, Providers and Clinical Team on complex nursing care issue and concerns. Effectively communicate assessment findings with physician

• Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures

• Demonstrate respect for patient rights and maintain confidentiality per agency policy.

• Provide safety and comfort for patients following nursing standards, procedures, protocols, and treatment orders within scope of practice.

• Administer medications and documents patient’s response following nursing procedures.

• Complete patient transfer process including, but not limited to, sending screening and appropriate documentation to other unit/facility, assigning nursing unit staff for transfer with facility, informing patient of transfer, completing appropriate transfer forms.

• Utilize management of assaultive behavior techniques/principles when intervening with a potentially aggressive/assaultive patient.

• Administer medications and documents patient’s response following nursing procedures.

• Monitor interactions between staff and patients/families; intervenes and mediates immediately if necessary and is appropriate.

• Perform other duties as assigned within appropriate scope.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

• Washington State License as a Registered Nurse

• BLS certified

• CPI Certification required within 6 months of hire (training provided by Valley Cities)


Experience:

• One or more years of experience in nursing required

• One-year experience in an acute care setting preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must be able to work in a multidisciplinary setting, giving respect to others based on knowledge and experience, as well as discipline.

• Tolerant of the stress of an acute care setting.

• Able to interact with patients with sensitivity, tact, and respect, as well as firmness, when necessary.

• Knowledge of theories of human behavior, personality development and psychological and physical cause of mental disorders.

• Familiarity with Washington Administrative Code regulations and professional standards governing the treatment of mentally ill patients



Working Conditions

Work is performed inside and outside in varying temperatures. Employee may occasionally be required to push or lift to 75 pounds, twisting and stooping requiring upper and lower body strength. Employee may be exposed to office supply odors or vapors. Employee is sitting, most of the time. Employee is also required to stand, walk, type, bend, write, read, interpret, and explain complex issues, work on a computer, and speak on the telephone.

Salary : $45 - $61
