As Vice President, Commercial Banking you will be responsible for identifying and building new business opportunities of small and middle-market prospects. In this role, you will be responsible for multiple aspects of the sales cycle. Including; building a go-to-market business plan, identifying and qualifying leads, cold-calling c-suite executives to set new appointments, assessing the needs of potential business members using a consultative approach, working with underwriting to evaluate risk, and driving new account engagement. You will need to be process-oriented, highly organized, and you will be expected to deliver solutions that help our business members prosper. In this role you will be responsible and accountable for all aspects of the Credit Union’s business banking operation. You will provide a variety of products to business members, including business deposit products, SBA loans, and commercial loan products and services. You will serve as the subject-matter expert in business banking products and services for our retail branch network.The Vice President, Commercial Banking reports to the Chief Lending Officer.
Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Create and execute annual business plan to meet Credit Union goals and objectives. This will include developing/refining policies, procedures, products, services, and training.
- Lead business development efforts identifying appropriate prospects and make personal calls on current and prospective business members.
- Take a leadership role representing Valley First Credit Union in business and community activities.
- Actively identify opportunities to cross-sell other credit union products and services.
- Proactively manage business member relationships by identifying financial needs, delivering solutions to meet those needs, and providing excellent member service.
- Meets and exceeds sales goals in loans, deposits, fee income and referrals.
- Partner with branch manager or other team members and serves as the primary point of contact for the business member.
- Reviews applicant financial data to evaluate credit worthiness and manages difficult credit situations.
- Negotiates terms and makes decisions on loans within limits or makes recommendations. Monitors outstanding loans to ensure ongoing credit worthiness.
- Adheres to established loan policies and procedures.
- Works with commercial credit approval process to ensure that underwriting and credit quality standards are implemented and maintained.
Qualifications (include but are not limited to):
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline required
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of Commercial Lending experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong negotiation skills
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Pay Range and Schedule:
- This position is an Executive Grade 18, with a salary ranging from $140,000.00 to $160,000.00 with opportunity to earn incentives.
- The anticipated pay rate for new hires is between the low-end and midpoint of the range, depending on experience
- The pay rates listed above are based upon the geographic location of our Administrative Offices in Modesto, CA using the greater Central Valley area for our pay range calculations
