POSITION SUMMARY:
To purchase materials, supplies, and equipment as directed, consistent with hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent or technical school graduate plus two or more years of college.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years experience in Hospital Purchasing Department.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Knowledge of medical equipment and supplies as well as an understanding of the functions of all hospital departments. Proficient in software applications including WordPerfect and Microsoft Suite. Ability to work under pressure and tight time constraints. Analytical ability. Basic knowledge of contract law, terms and conditions. Ability to communicate effectively (oral and in writing). Ability to effectively interact with customers to meet their needs. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make effective decisions, and respond quickly to customer's needs. Ability to recognize and deal with problematic situations and to prioritize. Uses discretion in confidential matters. Good organizational skills required.
