Dental Hygienist

Valley-Wide is an approved site with the Colorado Health Service Corps and National Health Service Corps loan repayment programs. Providers are eligible to apply and may be awarded up to $90,000.00 for providing care in our rural communities.

We are currently seeking a full-time Dental Hygienist to work in our dental clinic in our Alamosa Dental Clinic in Alamosa, CO. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch dental care to our patients, conducting cleanings, screenings, and educating them on proper oral hygiene practices.

Job Qualifications:

• Oral prophylaxis.
• Provide instruction for proper home care techniques for oral hygiene including proper tooth brushing, flossing, nutrition and need for professional care.
• Topical fluorides.
• Screens and evaluate patients regarding caries detection.
• Periodontal pathology, medical history.
• Exposing, processing and mounting of radiographs, following ALARA guidelines
• Supra- and subgingival scaling and curettage.
• Root planning.
• Procedures involving team periodontal surgical techniques.
• Administration of local anesthetics
• Gross de-bridement in treatment of acute periodontal conditions.

• Help train dental employees, teaching basic dental skills, radiographs, sterilization and how to assist the doctors.
• Maintains patient recall system.
• Maintains inventory of hygiene supplies and materials, as well as maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of inventory.

Education and Requirements

• State of Colorado Licensure of Dental Hygiene
• Associate  or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene
• 1-2 years’ experience working in a dental clinic environment desired.
• Successfully complete a background check and drug testing
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) desirable but not required
