Job Description
As Head of Engineering North America, you will lead and oversee our engineering operations, delivering comprehensive engineering services across the entire product lifecycle for our customers. Embedded in a global engineering network, you will collaborate closely with international teams to ensure knowledge sharing, consistency, and innovation across regions. Your role will be crucial in driving consulting, engineering design, industrialization, test engineering, and lifecycle support for obsolescence management and product changes.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Strategically leading the North American engineering team and ensuring excellence in customer projects.
- Offering tailored engineering services in the areas of:
- Consulting on technical and lifecycle challenges.
- Engineering Design for innovative and efficient product solutions.
- Industrialization of products for scalable and reliable manufacturing.
- Test Engineering, including ICT, flying probe, functional testing, and custom test systems.
- Lifecycle Support for obsolescence management, redesigns, and product updates.
- Collaborating with and contributing to a global engineering network, ensuring alignment on standards, processes, and technologies across regions.
- Acting as the primary interface between customers, local teams, and global engineering resources to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Technical support - Advising the customer on the optimum design for testing to achieve the most efficient and cost-effective solution possible.
- Second level support operations - Support of the test field via second level support and training, ensuring ongoing operation of field test equipment for which test engineering is responsible.
- Trainings and technical innovation - Education and training of internal department colleagues, training of specialized personnel in the test field, promotion of innovation in the field of testing.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably in electronics, embedded systems, and mechanical engineering.
- 5-7 years of project management/team leadership experience
- Electrical and general technical understanding, testing knowledge, problem-solving, solution orientated, creativity, presentation skills, and technical project management.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand schematic drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, and test procedures.
- Ability to interpret component manufacturer’s data sheets with respect to package design, part and lot numbers, correct orientation, and other technical data as required.
- Familiarity with IPC-610 accept/reject criteria regarding printed circuit board assemblies.
- Ability to work well as a team member in production facility.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality standards and audits.
- Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal. Spanish is a plus.
