Arnold Veterinary Hospital is looking to hire a veterinary technician to join our team. This is a full-time position. Compensation for this role is a $20-$23/hour based on experience with opportunities for overtime. Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team. As an VT, you will play a crucial role in assisting veterinarians and leading the support staff in providing high-quality and compassionate care to animals. The ideal candidate will be open to learning and teaching new techniques to help enhance our passion for the best care we can provide to our patients.
The successful candidate will work directly with the veterinarian and support staff, collaborating on projects that are vital to the success of our practice. Responsibilities:
- Accurately calculate and administer medications for anesthetic or sedated procedures in cat and dogs
- Handle animals safely and compassionately
- Facilitate patient care based on Veterinarian instruction
- Maintain accurate records of patient information and treatment plans
- Conduct laboratory tests and analyze results
- Provide support in veterinary critical care situations
- Recognize and identify abnormalities in patient vital sign parameters
- Be able to utilize critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot and address urgent situations.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures

Requirements
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician is required
- Proficiency in gentle handling and Fear Free techniques
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures
- Previous medical experience for exotic species, a plus
- Accurately filling medications
Skills:
- Strong understanding of veterinary technician duties
- Ability to effectively triage critical and urgent situations
- Proficiency in dental terminology for veterinary procedures
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care practice
- Venipuncture (lab collection, IVC placement)
- Identify drug interactions
- Medical math
- Proficiency in sterile technique and prep
- Prioritize effectively
- Understanding of microbiology
- Collaboration with team to complete daily tasks
