Vinco is a growing telecommunications construction contractor located in Forest Lake, MN. We seek an experienced Controller to join our team.
This position provides finance operational leadership, including: Maintaining and reviewing the general ledger and ancillary ledgers and all related accounts with proper documentation and records of all company transactions. Responsibility for monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger including preparation of journal entries. Develops and implements accounting policies, coordination of systems and procedures, and the preparation of operating data and special reports as required, including interim and year-end financial statements. Provides other managers and departments with information required by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities. Assures protection for the assets of the business through internal control, internal auditing, and insurance coverages. Prepares monthly account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts and selected income statement accounts. Manages Revenue Recognition by completing the monthly Work in Process (WIP) reports. Coordinates with project management leaders to measure and monitor projects and develop systems to timely report, measure and improve company performance. Maintains fixed asset records and control; determines depreciation terms/rates to apply to capitalized items. Ensures compliance with sales & use tax policy; Prepares and timely files all necessary sales and use tax returns. Coordinates the year-end financial review and preparing schedules and documents for independent (third-party) auditors. Maintains other accounts and performs other accounting duties, as required.
Minimum requirements for an eligible candidate include:
Requires a college degree in accounting, finance, or other related discipline
Prefer 8 years of hands-on accounting or finance experience at the management level. Strongly prefer a background in construction company accounting.
Requires proficiency with Microsoft office applications, especially Excel
Requires the ability to quickly learn computer software packages particular to the business. Foundation Software exposure preferred
Requires strong organization skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
Ability to foster collaborative relationships with direct reports, department managers, auditors and vendors
Strong financial reporting skills including demonstrated experience in providing financial statements for including monthly project accounting reports that are reconciled to the company’s financial statements.
Ability to analyze data, and discuss and explain complex issues
