POSITION TITLE: Design Engineer
POSITION REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
DEPARTMENT: Customer Success
POSITION EFFECTIVE: 9/25/2022
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Design Engineer develops a CAD model for designing and manufacturing custom solutions for VIRA Insight’s customers. They will consider all aspects of a product’s use including visual appeal, safety, accessibility, and affordability. They will collect feedback on user responses to prototypes and use it to adjust and improve the product’s overall appeal. Their role is to collaborate with other Engineers and Designers to finalize the specifications of a project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use 3D CAD software to develop models and drawings.
- Identify solutions to improve production efficiency.
- Contribute to value engineering exercises.
- Maintain existing engineering models and drawings.
- Assess all engineering prototypes to determine issues or risks.
- Support the manufacturing process.
- Coordinate with other engineers, management, and the creative department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not have direct reports.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Metal Fabrication, Plastics and Acrylics, Millwork
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in design engineering, engineering, product design, or relevant field OR a combination of education and experience
- 3 years of experience
- Experience using CAD and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software to convert ideas to models and drawings
- Experience in product design and manufacturing
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Varying work schedules to meet client demand is sometimes required
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods of time
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds, bend, and walk and climb stairs
