Job Description:
As the Director of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing our operational processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and profitability. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, developing and implementing operational strategies, and leading a team of professionals dedicated to operational excellence. Our Director of Operations will collaborate with the corporate office located in Lakewood, CO, and our global headquarters in Germany that has extensive manufacturing and service operations across the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for all operational activities, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, develop and implement improvement initiatives, and monitor the effectiveness of these changes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage operational budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness.
- Ensure that all operational activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Oversee supply chain activities, including procurement, inventory management, and logistics, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services.
- Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and address any operational issues promptly.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure business continuity.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of operational projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and innovative practices to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Communicate operational strategies and performance to senior management, stakeholders, and employees.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the rail or transportation industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in the fields of MOW machines and activities (e.g. rail grinding) preferred
- Ability to develop and implement strategic operational plans that align with company goals.
- Ability to read and understand measurement data and to create condition based maintenance strategies Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in the use of operations management software and tools, with a strong understanding of technology-driven operational improvements.
- Experience in managing organizational change and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to quality control the result of the maintenance works and to create reports for customers
- Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and quality service delivery.
