Truckload Dispatcher

W.W. Rowland Trucking Company, LLC has an immediate opening for a Full Truckload Dispatcher to join our team in our Houston, Texas location. The Dispatcher (Van) for W.W. Rowland Trucking Company coordinates load planning functions to ensure department objectives relating to on-time pick-up and delivery performance, customer satisfaction, equipment utilization, and driver retention are met. This is an on-site, in-office position with no remote work.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assigns and dispatches drivers to loads on a first-in, first-out basis, ensuring hours of service requirements are met while striving to minimize service failures and bobtail expense as possible
• Makes recommendations on process with an objective of maintaining or improving on-time pick-up and delivery performance at minimal cost and within F.M.C.S.R. and CSA guidelines
• Schedule live loads and delivery times as required meeting designated delivery windows set by the customer.
• Review dispatch system and driver assignments to ensure all loads are dispatched and that detailed information on assigned loads is relayed and completely understood.
• Acts as a primary department liaison, ensuring good communication and teamwork between Customer Service, Corporate Fleet/Safety Department, and Operations Management
• Ensures all additional costs for services rendered are recovered
• Responsible to ensure operations are following all written SOPs avoiding service defects, takes corrective action when needed
• Achieves company service, safety, and retention objectives by performing fair, consistent, and safe dispatch practices
• May perform other duties as requested

• Detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines
• Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision
• Recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems
• Ability to establish and maintain professional atmosphere for employees, clients and customers

Qualifications:

• Two (2) years of dispatching experience in truckload with high driver / owner operator dispatching experience required.
• Knowledge of load boards and backhauling dry van freight.
• Account management customer service experience is a plus!
• Strong attention to detail, and very good local geographical knowledge
• Bring energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to the job
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills
• Computer skills in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook) required
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
