What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sample Maker position at Wacoal America?
POSITION SUMMARY: Part of a high energy, collaborative Design sample room working with production caliber equipment. Sew intricate prototypes, market samples, fitting, pattern check and production package garments for leading intimate apparel brand and manufacturer.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Cut and sew new style prototypes under Designer’s direction.
- Cut and sew fitting, pattern check and production package garments following Bill of Materials, technical sewing Instructions and measurements.
- Responsible for measuring fitting, pattern check and production package garments ensuring all measurements are in tolerance.
- Dye, cut and sew market week samples.
- Inform designer of problem sewing areas in garment with suggestions for alternative methods
- Communicate to supervisor if patterns, bills of materials or any paperwork does not match the garment or instructions received
- Accurately sew multiple garments per day meeting all deadlines.
- Advise supervisor of any materials/colors missing or low in stock so order can be placed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years experience sewing intimate apparel
- High School Diploma (or GED) preferred
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES:
- Ability to cut garments.
- Working knowledge of machines used in intimate apparel.
- Knowledge of production sewing techniques is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time with a sense of priority for deadlines.
- Proficient in English.
Salary : $54,000 - $65,000
