About the role:
The Training & Development Manager is responsible for designing and implementing a company-wide development strategy that enhances leadership capabilities, skills, and overall performance across the workforce. This role focuses on developing managers and leaders, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and aligning programs with the company’s mission, vision, and values. The Training & Development Manager supports all departments at Walters by combining strategic planning with hands-on facilitation and coordination of impactful training programs to drive growth and success at every level of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, and track all training roadmaps, including onboarding, compliance, and remedial training.
- Manage Walters University as a hub for learning and development.
- Create leadership development roadmaps to prepare current and future leaders
- Collaborate with teams to assess training needs and identify skill gaps.
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive learning roadmaps tailored to meet the needs of specific departments, roles, and skills across the organization
- Continuously assess and refine learning roadmaps based on performance data and industry best practices.
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place and used for critical roles and tasks.
- Build training plans that prepare employees for critical functions and create backups for important knowledge.
- Lead training sessions in person or online to support employee growth and company needs.
- Keep accurate records of training, credentials and provide clear updates to managers and supervisors.
- Participate in the development of a long-term strategy for building a robust learning culture.
- Personal Performance Plans - Working with department heads to develop personal performance plans based on individual needs, when necessary.
- Succession Planning - Develop a program to identify, grow, and prepare employees for career advancement and key leadership roles within the organization.
- Support a culture of learning and development across the organization.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Previous experience in creating or managing training programs.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively and positively with others.
- Familiarity with training software and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing training programs in a compliance-driven industry.
- Certification in Training and Development or similar fields.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled company. Employees operate standard office equipment including: telephone, headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, and copier/scanner. Physical tasks of job include: walking, sitting, standing, and bending.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT health evaluation.
- This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug testing requirements in compliance with 49 CFR Part 382, this does include marijuana testing.
