Job summary:
This is an OPENemployment posting for Walton Academy Classroom Teacher for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school year. Applications will be screened regularly in order to fill vacancies which may occur during the current an/or upcoming school year.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a current professional North Carolina Teaching License in elementary (K-6) or Middle Grades 6-9
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience: PREFERENCE will be given to BUT not limited to candidates who have at least 3 years teaching experience and a track record of improving student outcomes
- Demonstrated experience performing in a self-directed capacity.
- Knowledge and understanding of strong classroom management skills
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Innovative and outcome oriented.
- Highly motivated and be willing to be receptive to innovative practices/procedures.
Responsibilities and duties of the job include but are not limited to the following:
- Work collaboratively with others to facilitate and implement innovative instruction to achieve the mission of the school.
- Demonstrate leadership to motivate effective learning practices and to strive for superior student performance.
- Effectively assess students through a variety of methods to determine appropriate instructional strategies and learning environments; prepare progress reports/report cards as scheduled on school calendar; meet with parents to discuss student progress a minimum of twice annually (Fall/Spring)
- Prepare, plan, and implement lessons that teach students according to the objectives, methods, and techniques as prescribed by the NC Standard Course of Study.
- Implement relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Communicate with parents as needed providing information on student progress and behavior via email, phone, or notes home. Maintain a log of these communications throughout the year.
- Invest in the life of the school by attending and participating in student music programs, school festivals, monthly faculty meetings, and any and all aspects that support the student experience.
