Waltonen Engineering is actively seeking a Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice to join our team!
Responsibilities
- Assist in operating and inspecting various machines and equipment, including defense vehicles, to diagnose defects and identify maintenance needs
- Support the dismantling and reassembling of equipment efficiently, ensuring proper functioning.
- Use hoists and a variety of hand tools to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks under supervision
- Examine parts for damage, wear, or other issues, making necessary adjustments or replacements as directed
- Collaborate with senior mechanic and the Project Manager to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and adherence to project schedules
Qualifications
- Some experience or training in mechanics, preferably with diesel engines and heavy equipment
- Must possess the physical stamina to perform maintenance tasks while standing for extended periods
- A valid driver’s license is required, along with fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Basic knowledge of PCs, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software products
- Only United States citizens can be considered for this position
- Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience or training with military vehicles is a plus
- Basic welding experience would be a valuable addition to your skill set
