JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Public Relations Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Manages the Authority’s public and community relations; Leads and manages customer service representatives and their activities, including customer calls, customer comment database, fare and pass programs, and in-person activities. Performs the duties of the Clerk of the Authority’s Board of Directors.
WORK SCHEDULE:
· Forty (40) hour work week, typically 8:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday including one (1) hour lunch period
· Must be available evenings and weekends as needed
REPORTS TO: Deputy Director
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Implements specific strategies to raise awareness and use of transit by key target audiences, including commuters, youth, and the general public.
· Prepares, coordinates, and implements promotions and campaigns to raise awareness and use of transit and other Authority services.
· Crafts media releases and develops social media messaging to shape public perception and increase awareness of Wave Transit services.
· Manages and further develops the Authority’s Travel Training Program, providing travel training and navigation services to individuals and community organizations
· Develops and fosters working relationships with community partners
· Participates in community outreach and education efforts
· Promotes awareness of transportation options for all residents, with special attention paid to people with disabilities, older adults, and other disadvantaged groups to enhance their ability to live more independently within the community.
· Administer customer appreciation program
· Schedule and manage all Customer Service Representative personnel
· Maintain official records of the Authority of customer complaints
· Prepare Authority board and committee meeting minutes
· Obtain signatures for board-approved documents
· Notarize documents as necessary
· Oversee functions and activities of Customer Service Representatives
· Answer inquiries and provide general information to passengers
· Record incoming complaints and complaint resolutions
· Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Undergraduate degree preferred
· Three (3) years verifiable experience in public relations, customer service, social work, public transit, or some combination of all
· A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted
· Knowledge of FTA requirements and the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and its application to public transportation
· Must possess valid North Carolina driver license
· Notary Public is desired
· Pre-employment background check and drug screen required
SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Must be computer literate with a high degree of competency in spreadsheet and word processing software
· Experience with WordPress and/or similar website editor tools
· Adept with design/content creation platforms (e.g. Adobe programs, Canva)
· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently and with others in an effective manner
· Ability to provide leadership and speak before public groups
· Ability to work flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Typically requires sitting for extended periods of time, talking, hearing, speaking, seeing, and repetitive motions
· Periodic fieldwork in varying environments
· May require walking short distances and lifting up to twenty pounds
· Travel as needed within or outside of service area
· May be subject to overnight travel
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent may be required to assist in performing other administrative and operational duties as well as assist in operational tasks within the Authority.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $49,998.00 - $75,010.00 per year
