Job description
Wavelength Electronics designs and manufactures precision electronics for critical Laser Systems. Our drivers are used in challenging applications like surgery, medical tests, dangerous chemical detectors, climate research – and other technology that significantly improves lives.
We’re looking for a person who takes initiative and wants to learn to operate one of the Surface Mount (SMT) production lines. This includes setup, operation, and light maintenance of three machines: solder stencil printer, pick-and-place machine, and reflow oven. This equipment enables us to solder electronics parts smaller than a flake of pepper. There is a lot of variety in the work. This job is perfect for someone who is mechanically inclined and pays close attention to details. We will train the right person.
Hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, at our automated, clean manufacturing facility. Duties and Responsibilities
This position has several core responsibilities:
- Operate the SMT line – stencil printer, pick-and-place machine, reflow oven
- Load & unload electronics components onto the machines according to established procedures.
- Program new builds using standard protocols and Excel.
- Accurately follow assembly instructions.
- Hand place parts the machines can’t pick.
- Inspect loaded circuit boards for soldering defects, component placement accuracy, and overall quality.
- Troubleshoot machines with support from the manufacturing engineer
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent. A technical certificate in electronics or a related field is preferred.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and machine programming
- Knowledge of hand soldering and solder rework equipment a plus
- Knowledge of IPC standards a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to be on your feet for extended periods
- Manual dexterity to handle small electronic components
- Good vision or corrected vision to see small details.
