Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding patient diagnoses and procedures, processing medical billing, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems such as ICD-10 and DRG, and experience in medical office settings.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze patient records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.
- Assign appropriate codes for billing purposes using ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues with billing.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and insurance policies.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in medical coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Experience in medical billing processes, including collections and claim submissions.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR- eCW) systems is a must.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
- Language Bilingual (English, and Spanish)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience of two years in a Femwell / OB-GYN medical office setting is a must.
