SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
West Philadelphia Achievement Charter Elementary School is an inner city Arts and Technology K-5 Elementary School. We are a family oriented environment with family and community involvement being an integral part of our mission to enrich the lives of our students.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for daily support of facility service operations as it pertains to the safe navigation of students on school grounds.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assist with arrival and dismissal procedures.
- Monitor hallway and bathroom traffic to assure students navigating the halls have appropriate badges/passes per their teacher or other staff members, and assist teachers with transporting students throughout the school building(s).
- Assist students with disabilities travel throughout the school.
- Work with the maintenance staff to maintain the cleanliness of bathrooms throughout the day.
- Monitor students during lunch to maintain the cleanliness of the cafeteria area, including wiping down tables, mopping spills, sweeping floors, and disposing of trash.
- Clean, organize, and maintain the cafeteria facilities and equipment in conjuction with cafeteria and maintenance staff.
- Supervise recess traffic to and from designated areas.
- Provide playground equipment and assume responsibility for daily storage after playground period.
- Assist maintenance and instructional staff throughout the day to provide supplies and service to bathrooms.
- Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed GED/High school diploma
- Must be able to obtain or currently have all background clearances (Federal, PA State, Child Abuse).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, stoop, reach and bend; mobility of arms to reach, dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate large and small objects.
- Ability to lift, push and/or pull objects, which may approximate 30 lbs.
- Must be able to work around loud noise.
- In the event that the need arises, you will need to be able to walk a standard flight of stairs, or stand or sit for up to 45 minutes.
