POSITION TITLE: Nurse (5 PM – 11 PM S, 3 PM – 11:30 PM M-TH)
REPORTS TO: Nursing Supervisor
LOCATION: Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf

JOB
DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time, exempt, 10-month, 187-day position. Responsibilities are as follows:
administer daily and PRN medication per physician order
assisting in maintaining medical records for students in a confidential manner
contacting physician regarding health of students, medications, and examinations
assessing injured or ill students and providing routine treatment and/or
emergency care in accordance to licensure, training, and physician order
participate in coordinated care of students and communicate with all members of
care team, including but not limited to, students, supervisors, school staff,
parents, and other healthcare providers
complete state mandated screenings annually
assisting the physician with physical exams and evaluations
must be aware of all shift responsibilities in the event of emergency coverage
travel with students for field trips and school outings may be required and will be
planned in advance of day.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: PA State Police Criminal Clearance, PA Child Abuse History Clearance,
FBI Clearance, Act 82, Mandated Reporter Training Certification.
PA State Nursing Licensure required. RN preferred. Experience with school health
programs is preferred and experience working with a school health center is also preferred.
Current CPR certification required.
30 hours of continuing nursing education every two years as required by law to maintain
licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
The Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) for this position is “Intermediate.”
The minimum level accepted at hire is “No Functional Skills.”
