Position Summary
The Financial Literacy Specialist will develop, implement, and manage comprehensive financial education programs aimed at improving the financial knowledge and skills of students, members and potential members. The ideal candidate is a proactive educator with a strong understanding of financial concepts and a passion for community outreach.
Schedule: Average of 40 hours per week including evening and weekend events
Remote/Hybrid: Remote/Hybrid Eligible
Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel for educational events throughout southern Idaho
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation:
- Design and implement financial literacy programs tailored to various member segments, including youth, adults, seniors, and small business owners.
- Create and maintain engaging educational materials, including presentations, brochures, and online resources.
- Work collaboratively with branch staff to coordinate presentations.
Workshops and Seminars:
- Plan, organize, and conduct financial education workshops and seminars on topics such as budgeting, credit management, saving and investing, and retirement planning.
- Collaborate with community organizations and schools to expand outreach efforts.
Outreach and Collaboration:
- Build and maintain relationships with local community organizations, schools, and businesses to promote financial literacy programs.
- Represent the credit union at community events and financial education fairs.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track and analyze the effectiveness of financial literacy programs and report on key performance indicators.
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to the VP of Marketing.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to financial education.
- Continuously seek feedback from members and stakeholders to improve program offerings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, education, business, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in financial counseling or education (e.g., AFCPE, NFEC) is preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial education, financial counseling, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of personal finance concepts and financial products.
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
- Proficient in using educational technology and creating digital content.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
