As the Tasting Shack Retail Associate, your responsibilities include:
- Providing guests with the best possible experience, fostering relationships that promote sales and brand loyalty.
- Pouring requested samples of our exquisite whiskey.
- Encouraging customers to dive into the world of WhistlePig Whiskies.
- Educating guests about the fascinating history and range of WhistlePig products.
- Skillfully using our point of sale system for smooth transactions.
- Nailing opening and closing procedures - setting up, breaking down, table arrangements, glassware shining - all things Tasting Shack.
- Following procedures and keeping our whiskey and merchandise fully stocked.
- Maintaining the aesthetics of our prime-location space - we want it looking sharp!
- Closing out the daily transactions through the point of sale system and reporting daily sales.
To rock this role, you'll need to have:
- Due to the sensory requirements of the job (occasional tastes are a thing!) candidates must be a minimum age of 21 (sorry, it's the law).
- Reliable transportation - you've got to get here!
- A genuine passion for spirits and related topics.
- Retail sales experience - you're the master of product presentation and upselling.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, POS systems).
- A schedule you can commit to; the Tasting Shack hours will be open 7 days/week.
- A pigtastic personality, and the ability to solve problems on the fly.
- Stamina - you can stand for ages, and you're strong enough to lift up to 50 pounds.
We're looking for candidates with:
- 1-3 years of retail experience.
- A VT DLC 1st class alcohol server certification before you start (we can help you obtain this if you do not already have it).
- Experience in restaurants, bars, hospitality, or service is a major advantage.
You'll need to:
- Juggle multiple projects, customer needs, and tasks like a pro.
- Use your hands and fingers to operate a register, plus pouring spirits, listening to and speaking with customers, and even taste and smell as part of the brand education.
- Be on your feet, moving or walking for extended periods.
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Be ready for the occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
We'll equip you with:
- Brand training before go-live with our Whiskey team and Marketing maestros.
- On-site training before you launch into the fun for the winter season.
- Competitive hourly wage: $22/hr
- Paid holidays, with double-pay for holidays worked (hourly rate 8 hours of holiday pay)
- End of season pass reimbursement, subject to eligibility and limitations
