The Recreation Specialist may be responsible for independently developing and supervising specialized programs that serve Lodge or Member target populations or interest groups. The Recreation specialist will take part in planning, organizing, developing, maintaining, promoting, operating, and managing a recreational activity area or an assigned facility. Work is performed in accordance with the departmental rules, regulations, and safety practices. Incumbents in this class may be rotated or transferred to other facilities and/or assignments based on department or seasonal needs.
This position works closely with our Recreation Manager to coordinate and lead all recreational programs for The Lodge at Spruce Peak guests.
Main Responsibilities include:
- Assist in developing and implementing all seasonal activities.
- Provide personalized experiential recreation opportunities to all guests.
- Lead individual, small group, and large group activities, games, and instructional classes.
- Working 5-8 hours per day.

Qualifications
- Enthusiasm for outdoor adventures!
- College degree in Education, Athletics, Sports, Recreation, Tourism or related field, preferred
- Experience with outdoor recreation, programming, leadership or child care/camp programs preferred
- Life guard certification is a plus
- Customer service experience
- Ability to be active in outdoor adventure activities all day
- Outdoor technical or naturalist experience is a plus
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Must be able to work holiday weeks and Thursdays- Sundays.
- Flexible schedule to include both weekends and holidays
