What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safari Animal Care position at Wild Florida?
Responsibilities:
- Operate safari vehicles safely.
- Maintain a safe work area.
- Assist guests needs (i.e. guests issues, escorts out, etc.)
- Move animals out of roadways and away from gates.
- Enforce all Safari rules.
- Able to work on your own most of the day while still functioning as part of a team.
- Check your assigned section daily. This includes fence lines, trees down, wires not working, animal counts, and any animal issues. Report these issues to management team.
- Maintain animal sections in safari including cleaning, feeding, and exhibit maintenance.
- Cooperate with all associates and management.
- Complete any and all tasks as directed by management even outside the duties listed.
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license.
- Individuals must be able to lift and move 50 pounds or more.
- Must have the ability to work close to animals.
- Previous animal experience preferred.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions: cold, heat, rain, wind, etc.
- Must be able to sit in vehicles for up to 6 hours at a time and as many as 10 hours a day.
Experience
- Previous experience in animal care or related fields is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and the public.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of caring for animals, including lifting and moving them as needed.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is essential.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
