Position Summary : Interstate Earthworks is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform routine repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment, including diagnosing, adjusting, or repairing mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Key Roles / Responsibilities :
Diagnoses and repairs vehicles and equipment with supervision as needed.Performs inspections, preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment, and minorcomponent replacement as applicable.
Prepares and maintains records and reports accurately.Dismantles and reassembles heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.Operates and inspects machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure properperformance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
Cleans, lubricates, and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment, vehicles, components, systems, and equipment of the plant.Reads and understands operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.Tests machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.Fit bearings to adjust or repair mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumaticequipment.
Diagnoses faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges. Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications :
Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Recognizes confidential information and maintains it in accordance with standard procedures.High school graduate or equivalent.Strong service and customer relation skills.Able to read, write and speak English.Able to work under stressful conditions at times.Possess a strong work ethic, integrity, and honesty.Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and maintain them over time.Dependable, reliable, and capable of fulfilling responsibilities.Valid Driver's License.Must be capable of working independently with little or no supervision and as a member of a team.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.Diesel Technology or Automotive / Diesel Diploma, preferred.Knowledge of safety practices and procedures, preferred.CDL license, preferred.Working Conditions :
