Purpose:
To obtain, through MR, images of diagnostic value for interpretation by Radiologist
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas
- Run and record Phantom QA scans in PACS
- Ensure proper safety standards are met
- Demonstrate knowledge of correct emergency shutdown procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of proper fire and safety evacuation’s
- Verify all ancillary equipment (monitoring devices, injectors, surveillance equipment) is operational
- Ensure procedure room is clean and up to Infection Control standards
- Inspect rooms for potential environment of care hazards (O2 tanks/outlets, lighting) and any discrepancies reported to supervisor in a timely manner
- Perform tasks associated with the operation of MR scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures
- Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary
- Assist physicians with imaging procedures, starting IV’s and injecting contrast, if necessary
- Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label
- Transmit appropriate images to PACS
- Order supplies in PROCUREIT
- Start IV for contrast to patients
- Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration
- Provide orientation and training to new MR technologists
- Provide education and training to student technologists
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein
Other Duties:
- Assist physicians in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques that are unique to this facility
- Participate in research initiatives
- Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing and handicapped
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Associate’s degree in Applied Science
- ARRT registration
- BLS/CPR Certification
- Full COVID 19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment for all position with Wilmington Health. Documentation is required prior to orientation.
