Purpose:

To obtain, through MR, images of diagnostic value for interpretation by Radiologist

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas
  • Run and record Phantom QA scans in PACS
  • Ensure proper safety standards are met
  • Demonstrate knowledge of correct emergency shutdown procedures
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper fire and safety evacuation’s
  • Verify all ancillary equipment (monitoring devices, injectors, surveillance equipment) is operational
  • Ensure procedure room is clean and up to Infection Control standards
  • Inspect rooms for potential environment of care hazards (O2 tanks/outlets, lighting) and any discrepancies reported to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Perform tasks associated with the operation of MR scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures
  • Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary
  • Assist physicians with imaging procedures, starting IV’s and injecting contrast, if necessary
  • Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label
  • Transmit appropriate images to PACS
  • Order supplies in PROCUREIT
  • Start IV for contrast to patients
  • Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration
  • Provide orientation and training to new MR technologists
  • Provide education and training to student technologists
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein


Other Duties:

  • Assist physicians in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques that are unique to this facility
  • Participate in research initiatives
  • Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing and handicapped

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in Applied Science
  • ARRT registration
  • BLS/CPR Certification
  • Full COVID 19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment for all position with Wilmington Health. Documentation is required prior to orientation.
