Job Overview
We are seeking a RELIABLE, dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care for animals boarded in our kennel. You will work closely with dogs and cats, ensuring their well-being and comfort while maintaining a clean and safe environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal care and have experience in handling pets. You will also interact regularly with pet owners.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, providing water, and exercising.
- Maintain complete and thorough cleanliness of the kennel area by regularly cleaning kennels (indoor/outdoor), bedding, and common areas, to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Monitor the well-being of animals, reporting any concerns to management.
- Interact with pet owners, providing updates and addressing concerns.
- Engage in pet sitting duties for animals that require additional attention or companionship.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed to protect animals, owners, and staff.
- Administer medications and treatments to animals as directed.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and activities.
- Perform physical tasks, including lifting and handling large animals and kennel supplies.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in pet care or animal handling required.
- Knowledge of basic animal care principles, including feeding and compassionate treatment.
- Ability to handle animals safely and effectively, demonstrating proper animal restraint techniques when necessary.
- Strong communication skills to interact positively with staff and pet owners.
- Physical stamina required to perform heavy lifting and cleaning for extended periods.
