Women for Afghan Women (WAW) is dedicated to securing and protecting the rights of disenfranchised Afghan women and children around the world, particularly their rights to develop their individual potential, to self-determination, and to be represented in all areas of life. To this end, WAW engages with both government and civil society, including religious and gender justice stakeholders.
Position Description: Women for Afghan Women (WAW) is looking for a Part-Time Accountant for its Finance Department. Under the supervision and guidance of the organization’s Finance Director, the jobholder will perform the following duties:
- Accounts Receivable: Regularly check WAW’s financial accounts on payment processing portals to record incoming donations. It is important that classification of incoming funds (including donation checks) is done by their restrictive types and assigned to programs they are intended to.
- Accounts Payable: Receive all incoming invoices that include vendor invoices for payment, staff reimbursement claims and any other requests for payment that are approved. Prepare payment package to be processed by Senior Financial Analyst.
- Payroll: Biweekly payroll processing, QB recording. 403b contributions processing.
- QuickBooks: Record all expenses onto the QuickBooks according to their program/ grant and natural account classifications. Ensure accuracy of amounts, classes and grant/program assignments.
- Any other tasks assigned by the Finance Director or his designee
QUALIFICATION
- This job requires 2 years of accounting experience, and a minimum of an associate degree in accounting/finance.
- The team at Women for Afghan Women believe in continued education and training, thus a committed person without the extensive experience in QuickBooks or preparation of financial statements, who is determined to learn and improve will receive training and guidance.
Expected hours: 20 per week
