I.     Position Overview:  


The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving and updating systems and processes that support optimization of facility usage.   This position also effectively and efficiently managing the Woodstock Facility, utilizing outside contractors, as necessary to provide engineering and facility services that are in accordance with Company requirements and governing agencies that are well documented.   Apply extensive industry experience to troubleshoot and optimize facility equipment and all utilities.  Work independently to identify and initiate projects for facility improvements without appreciable direction.

This position entails additional responsibility for organizing and directing the efforts of facility maintenance personnel and outside contractors as appropriate in achieving effective preventative and continuous improvement of maintenance and repair systems through development, performance and management of project plans.

  

II.     Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, manage and review the work of internal employees and outside contractors for facilities, utilities, and other work.
  • Produce facility and project drawing changes for review with management.
  • Participate in the design of new pharmaceutical facilities and enhancements and expansions to current facility.
  • Develop and execute project plans to solve facility and equipment problems.
  • Work with suppliers and in house resources to find solutions for complex multidisciplinary problems.
  • Own and drive facility and maintenance upgrades per schedule and cost
  • Core team member in biannual site shut downs; meeting/beating down time goals.
  • Assist in ensuring maintenance and repair of all major plant equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure that appropriate paper and electronic documentation of Maintenance work performed is updated and current
  • Research and provide pertinent information to all levels of management on FDA, Customer and internal based audits  
  • Develop and maintain SOPs pertaining to maintenance activities. 
  • Serves as interface with customer and FDA based audits. 
  • Completes special projects on an as needed basis.
  • Provide specifications and cost estimates for major facility equipment acquisitions.
  • Manage building maintenance financial overhead budget.  
  • Serve as facility representative with respect to compliance of the City of Woodstock, State of Illinois, Utility Companies and EPA requirements.
  • Obtain permits for facility modifications.
  • Maintain effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this position.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage risk to ensure product quality.  Communicate risk policies and processes throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

III.  Position Requirements:


Education or Equivalent: 

 Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent experience

Experience:  

 Minimum 10 years’ experience in engineering/engineering management, preferably in a pharmaceutical/FDA-regulated work environment.

 Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to stand for up to 2 hours per day.
  • May be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders/steps, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, writing, talking, listening.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, carrying, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
