Are you a high-performing Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager ready to take the next step in your career? We are looking for a motivated and growth-oriented Controller to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who has strong accounting experience, leadership potential, and a desire to take on more responsibility in financial strategy and decision-making. You’ll work closely with the CFO to drive financial health and efficiency.
This position is a full-time, onsite roll Monday-Friday at our facility in Belmont, MI.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading and supporting a small team, ensuring accountability and fostering a positive, results-driven environment. Oversees the overall performance of the team, ensuring goals are met and continuous development is encouraged.
- Possesses a strong understanding of accounting and manufacturing costing principles. Able to effectively interpret and manage P&L and balance sheet.
- Takes a hands-on, detail-oriented approach to managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Capable of overseeing various tasks and ensuring all aspects are completed efficiently and accurately, without compromising quality.
- Oversee and coordinate all activities related to month-end and year-end closing, ensuring that financial data is accurate, complete, and reported on time. This includes reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing final financial reports for review.
- Collaborate in the preparation of the annual budget, providing accurate financial data and insights to support the budgeting process. Work closely with various departments to ensure budget assumptions are realistic and aligned with company goals.
- Prepare sales tax returns, and any other reports required by regulatory agencies. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
- Hands on with daily banking, weekly payroll, credit/collections and daily WIP balancing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in Accounting/Finance
- Prior Financial Statement/General Ledger accounting experience required
- 3 - 5 years of Manufacturing/Cost accounting or public accounting experience preferred
- Able to operate in multiple accounting systems
