Job Description:
Emergency vehicle technicians maintain, repair, and inspect emergency vehicles, ensuring optimal performance during critical situations. Responsibilities encompass mechanical troubleshooting, routine servicing, and equipment installation, prioritizing safety and reliability. Diagnose the source of trouble and determine the extent of repairs required.
Qualifications:
Have at least 3 years related experience in the operation, maintenance, repair, adjustment, modification, overhaul, engine removal and installation on diesel vehicles, crash emergency response and fire response vehicles/equipment and heavy equipment assets. Must be in sound physical condition. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Ability to understand the requirements and use of equipment/tools required for performance of assigned tasks. Understand oral and written instructions and ability to communicate necessary information in performance of operations. Able to accept varying job responsibilities, starting times, and shift assignments. Requires an Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification. Must be trained in AFI24-302, technical manuals and/or COTS
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Perform routine and complex automotive maintenance; tire repair and vehicle checkout/road testing.
· Perform necessary body and structural repair to maintain vehicles in safe and serviceable condition.
· Maintain the Government vehicle fleet and vehicle support equipment necessary for performance of the contract, including vehicles identified as Agency Peculiar.
· Repair and replace vehicle tires and remove and reinstall mounted tires as necessary.
· Provide batteries and battery service for all vehicles and equipment.
· Repair or replace parts, assemblies, subassemblies, and components as required.
· Certify all maintenance performed on crash, emergency response and fire response vehicles/equipment.
· Comply with Airforce AAAF guidelines and procedures and adhere to environmental guidelines for all automotive work.
· Reassemble, adjust and test repaired units for proper operation.
· Perform preventive and special maintenance.
· Properly annotate all maintenance performed on prescribed forms for data collection.
· Knowledge is mandatory of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic principles applying to the repair of vehicles and equipment.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
