Role Overview

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the shipping of finished and procured goods. They also help ensure all material is handled in a safe and efficient manner that meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards while also fulfilling all customer requirements.

Essential Duties

• Keep track of LTL shipments, including audit and scheduling of loads daily.
• Assist with daily cycle counts and perform investigations on any issues.
• Input various data and track information using Excel.
• Ship packages via UPS, FedEx and DHL systematically.
• Adhere to any applicable safety requirements.
• Coordinate all small parcel activity to insure the proper movement of materials into and out of the distribution center with an emphasis on both cost-effective pricing and efficient material handling.
• Ensure that good inventory control practices are observed, including lot/serial control, FIFO, and that cycle-counting is maintained within the scope of procedures.
• Process and handle all exception orders and/or international orders including hazardous material shipments.
• Complete any necessary daily tasks, including pick/pack/ship procedures to ensure daily goals are met or exceeded including working the line.
• Continually function as a key contributor to the Operations leadership team.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external customers, and promptly resolve any issues brought forward via the shipping role.

• Support the operational activity of other departments throughout the warehouse as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Training and Experience

• 3-5 years' experience within a distribution setting, including receiving, stocking, and pick/pack/ship, is required.
• Associate's degree in related field preferred
• Some supervisory/lead experience in a distribution setting preferred.
• Previous experience with hazardous materials is a plus, though training will be provided
  
  

Knowledge, Abilities And Skills

• Knowledge of commonly utilized operational and quality programs and standards including ISO standards, MRP and/or WMS software, as well as exposure to commonly utilized documents such as bills of material, bills of lading, pick tickets, packing slips, work instructions, etc.
• Knowledge of MS Office required.
• Forklift certification preferred
• Experience with Lean Methodology preferred.
  
  

Physical Requirements

Moderate physical activity is required. Daily responsibilities may require handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. Bending, climbing, fine movements, and manual dexterity are also required.
