YWCA OF GREATER CLEVELAND : EARLY LEARNING CENTER

Some are surprised to learn we don't offer swim lessons and other recreational sports related activities, yet, from its inception, the YWCA of Greater Cleveland has been dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Founded in 2001, the Early Learning Center provides high-quality early childhood education to families that have experienced homelessness and other traumatic occurrences through a two generational trauma-informed approach, small classrooms, and coordination of supportive services.

This innovative model assesses and identifies the social-emotional needs of the children, works with families to create case plans, achieve goals, prevents re-occurrence of homelessness, and empowers families to achieve and maintain the highest level of self-sufficiency.

Your role as fAMILY eNGAGEMENT sPECIALIST - 1

As a Family Engagement Specialist - 1 at the YWCA's Early Learning Center, you will play a pivotal role in supporting families by conducting participant intake assessments and crafting individualized service plans tailored to their unique needs. Your expertise will enable you to connect participants with essential community-based services, ensuring they receive comprehensive support. You'll actively engage in community outreach initiatives, utilizing your marketing skills to promote the YWCA's mission and recruit potential participants. Additionally, you will maintain accurate client and program records, adhering to the standards set by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

What matters most

To thrive as a Family Engagement Specialist at the YWCA's Early Learning Center, you will need a diverse skill set and relevant experience. A high school diploma is required, with an Associate's degree preferred, as well as at least five years of experience working with a diverse client population. Familiarity with the Cuyahoga County homeless system and continuum of care is essential, along with a strong understanding of mental health, addictions, poverty, and trauma. Excellent oral and written communication skills are crucial for effective engagement with families and community partners.

Moreover, a valid Ohio driver's license, auto insurance, and a reliable vehicle are necessary to facilitate outreach and connect participants with available services. Your compassion, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to empathetic service will be key drivers of success in this impactful role.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

• High School Diploma required
• Associates degree preferred
• At least 5 years' experience working with and knowledge relevant to client population
• Knowledge of Cuyahoga County homeless system and continuum of care
• Knowledge of mental health / addictions / poverty and trauma
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills required
• A valid Ohio Driver's License, auto insurance and a reliable vehicle is required
