What Will You Do?
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Controls Engineer will design and develop control programs for electro-mechanical and electronic control refrigeration systems. This is a mid-level position, and it is expected the Engineer will work under minimal supervision and be able to coordinate the work of other engineers and engineering technicians. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for working collaboratively with the outside sales team as a technical advisor and provide reliable solutions for technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction. will also direct and/or coordinate activities involved in the operation, application, installation, and repair of commercial and industrial refrigeration products and systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read project wiring diagrams and I/O to develop Refrigeration Rack Control programs
- Review and understand hardware and instrumentation schematics
- Assist Engineers in writing sequence of operations for the Refrigeration Rack Control programs
- Provide assistance to production team with as built changes
- Communicate with Engineers, Field Service Technicians and Customers during start-up and operation
- Troubleshoot with Field Service Technicians and Customers to diagnose field deviations
- Directs and coordinates manufacturing activities through engineering to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
- Communicate with production personnel to build systems according to specifications.
- Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
- Resolve internal and external technical support requests or issues related to product selection, application, specification, installation, etc.
- Extensive interaction with internal and external customers.
- Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects.
- Work with customers, contractors, vendors and the purchasing team to resolve any warranty issues.
- Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department and project managers, engineers, sales personnel, and service and technicians.
- Assists sales team with preparation of RFQs as directed.
- Proactively facilitate timely solutions to customer concerns by utilizing available resources or creating procedures for resolution.
- Prepare proposals using vendor software, sales catalogs & cost estimates according to technical and performance requirements.
- Other duties assigned.
What Are We Looking For?
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of you in this position:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 3-5 years of programming CPC's, PLC's and HMI's with complete systems integration
- Experience with electrical panel layout, schematic design, ladder logic programming, and system testing and troubleshooting
- Well versed in electrical control panel design with field experience is strongly preferred
- A good working knowledge of refrigeration system circuit design is desired
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred, however, equivalent HVACR experience will also be considered.
- 3-5 years of refrigeration systems (retail and industrial) knowledge and experience is required.
- Experience in quoting, sales, and/or B2B customer interaction a plus.
- Natural refrigerant (CO2 and Ammonia) knowledge is desired.
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
- Must be self-motivated, organized, and have the ability to handle numerous parallel tasks and projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and technical ability to learn a diverse product line.
- Work cross-functionally to evaluate and develop new technologies and products.
