One of the 3Shape priorities is to utilize cloud providers for us to deliver services internally as well as externally to our customers. Microsoft Azure is our primary cloud provider, and we are growing our services in Azure. We are using our cloud providers for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer who also has operations experience. The position is in the Platform team who is currently involved in DevOps for a number of projects as well as building the future infrastructure platform for 3Shape cloud-based projects in Microsoft Azure.

Together with the rest of 3Shape we will work on setting the standards for DevOps in Azure including guiding the projects to add more focus on Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and assisting the teams in overseeing the infrastructure. It is likely that you will also be part of the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE).

We are expanding our 24x7 operations function, and you will be key to work together with them making sure that they have the right tools, monitors, scripts and knowledge for them to monitor and service our systems while we are not at work.

Key areas of responsibility

• Take over management of some services and assist management of other services. This could include:
• • Provision additional capacity.
  • Build and maintain scripts for Infrastructure-as-Code together with the project teams.
  • Deploy/apply software updates as directed by DevOps.
  • Assist in troubleshooting QA environments.
• Build the future infrastructure platform for 3Shape cloud-based projects. This could include:
• • Building centralized Kubernetes clusters, with the necessary governance and security.
  • Building centralized container registries.
  • Building centralized observability capability to be used for cloud-based applications and services as well as desktop applications.
• Monitor and respond to platform service incidents, e.g. by:
• • Increasing our monitoring capabilities.
  • Developing log monitors to scan for errors and other anomalies.
  • Developing what-if scenarios for the operations team to work from.
• Work together with support, operations, and development teams to troubleshoot, isolate, and remediate all incidents until resolution.
• Perform daily assessment of trend performance data and develop automated detection methods to spot problems.
• Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.

Skills & Requirements

• Min 3 years of cloud DevOps experience from both a developer and operations perspective.
• Experienced with containerized workflows (Azure Kubernetes Services).
• Solid understanding of cloud applications, concepts, storage, compute, networking, and database components of Microsoft Azure, as well as monitoring and operations.
• Microsoft Azure DevOps.
• DevOps mindset.
