Senior Engineer, Railways

POSTED ON 4/23/2025 AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/21/2025
COWI A/S Vejle, Full Time

Do you want to participate in groundbreaking railway projects that drive sustainable transportation solutions? Can you leverage your expertise to design innovative rail systems that enhance safety and efficiency? And are you equipped with a degree in Engineering and several years of experience in railway infrastructure? Then, we invite you to apply and help shape the future of rail transport with us at COWI!

Become a part of our Track and Safety Department in Vejle/Odense
We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our team. We are currently a team of 10 people located in Vejle who are looking to expand our team in both Vejle and Odense. We have good railway colleagues based in Odense; hence it will also be possible to be located at this office. We are working alongside our customers on some of the most significant projects in Denmark, and we are thrilled to have contributed to projects like Driverless S-train in Copenhagen (DSB Future S-train) and New Railway Aarhus-Silkeborg.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Leading projects from start to finish, including participation in idea and construction programmes, project proposals, authority- and tender projects, execution, delivery and follow-up.
  • Handling clients wishes, needs and values to contribute to a trust-based, close and professional collaboration.
  • Participating in resource planning and financial composition of our projects.
  • Playing a critical role as design/discipline lead on projects, including construction management and supervision.
  • Foster and contribute to a highly professional level within the discipline, and act as a mentor and sparring partner for your colleagues.
  • Contributing to the technical development of the discipline.

Your skills. Our team. Together, we create the future.
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

In addition, you have:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineer or similar.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience with railway or infrastructure.
  • Preferably experience as a consultant or contractor.
  • Proficiency in Danish and English, both verbally and written.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels.

A place to work and so much more
At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world. We do it by applying our knowledge and curiosity – and sometimes even our courage – to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow. That is why we say no to fossil-based projects and aspire to have 100 percent of our revenue come from activities that move our customers toward sustainability.

With offices primarily located in Scandinavia, the UK, North America, and India, we currently have 8000 people who bring their knowledge in engineering, architecture, energy, and environment into play.

Got more questions?
If you have any questions about the role or what we have to offer, please reach out to the Head of Discipline, Nanna Christensen, at nlch@cowi.com, or Global Talent Acquisition Specialist, Charlotte Cecilie Rod, at ccro@cowi.com.
