Hardware Quality Assurance Specialist

Your Role and Team

In this role you will be part of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team. You’ll be contributing with your excellence in QA, to ensure the quality and longevity of our bike fleet. You will be responsible for hands-on quality assessments, component testing, and field evaluations, contributing to the continuous improvement of our bikes and supporting our sustainability goals. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a passion for quality and a drive to make a tangible impact on urban mobility. You’ll work closely with our SCM and Country Operations teams to continuously develop and improve how we think about and act on our quality standards.

Main Responsibilities For The Role

• Bike Production and Component Testing:
• Conduct thorough quality inspections of bike production, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
• Perform rigorous component testing in laboratory settings and on the street, evaluating durability and performance.
• Analyze test results and provide detailed reports, identifying areas for improvement.
• Ensure quality standards are met for existing bike retrofit projects.
• Conduct quarterly warehouse visits to assess quality and compliance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Field Quality Evaluation:
• Conduct regular evaluations of bike and operations quality in city operations, assessing maintenance standards and identifying potential issues.
• Provide detailed reports and feedback to city operations teams, promoting consistent quality across all locations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of quality improvement plans based on field evaluations.
  
  

• Lifecycle Management and Sustainability:
• Evaluate the quality of refurbished bikes, ensuring they meet established standards for performance and safety.
• Develop and implement a process for determining the end-of-life for bikes, optimising resource utilisation and minimising environmental impact.
• Contribute to the annual ESG report by documenting quality improvement achievements and their impact on sustainability.
  

What We Are Looking For In a Candidate

• Minimum 3 years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing or maintenance environment related to bicycles and e-bikes.
• A technical diploma or Bachelor's degree
• Experience with component testing and quality inspection procedures.
• Ability to analyse data and generate detailed reports.
• Familiarity with quality management principles.
• Attention to Detail. You are meticulous and thorough in all tasks, with a keen eye for identifying defects and inconsistencies.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot quality issues, proposing effective solutions.
• Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Understanding of and interest in sustainable practices and environmental impact.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  
  

This Is How Your Role Progression Looks Like

Within 1 month

• Become familiar with Donkey Republic's bike models, components, and quality standards.
• Understand the existing quality inspection and testing procedures.
• Establish initial relationships with key team members across Supply Chain, Operations, and Product.
  
  

Within 3 - 6 months

• Conduct independent quality inspections of bike production and perform rigorous component testing.
• Analyse test results, generate detailed reports, and identify areas for improvement.
• Perform regular warehouse visits, assess compliance, and initiate corrective actions.
• Conduct field quality evaluations, providing feedback to city operations teams.
• Assist in developing and implementing quality improvement plans based on field evaluations and testing data.
• Begin to evaluate the quality of refurbished bikes against established standards.
  
  

Within 6 - 12 months

• Develop and implement a process for determining the end-of-life for bikes, focusing on resource optimization.
• Contribute significantly to the annual ESG report by documenting quality improvement achievements and their impact on sustainability.
• Lead the quality assurance portion of bike retrofit projects.
• Utilise data analysis to identify trends and patterns in quality issues, driving proactive improvements.
• Develop and implement advanced testing protocols for new components and bike models.
• Act as a key point of contact for quality-related issues, fostering collaboration across departments.
