Senior Engineer

Wood Thilsted is a boutique engineering consultancy company focused on all aspects of foundation design and project development within the offshore wind energy industry. We are searching for a Senior or Lead Engineer to be a part of the Wood Thilsted team and to support the future development of the company.

Areas of responsibility: As a Senior/Lead Engineer you will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions to prevent seabed erosion around wind turbine foundations, subsea cables, and offshore substations. We are seeking candidates with a detailed understanding of waves, flows, sediment transport, seabed mobility/ coastal morphology, scour, and scour protection design. Knowledge and capability with specifying scour protection armour types and evolving the design aspects for offshore applications is also required.

Typical areas of work are likely to include:

• Lead and execute projects focusing on seabed-structure interaction, including scour protection design and cable stabilization.
• Prepare and deliver successful technical proposals and collaborate with international clients.
• Apply and evolve innovative methodologies in line with relevant guidance.
• Share knowledge through publishing research and mentoring team members.
• Drive business development in seabed structure interaction.
• You will also provide technical guidance in sediment transport, scour, computational modelling and scour protection in the marine environment.

You will be able to demonstrate suitable experience of working in a consultancy or similar delivery focused environment and show excellent project management experience. You will be enthusiastic, pragmatic and resourceful. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, a flexible attitude and excellent attention to detail and the ability to contribute to and lead research and commercial strategy aims is necessary. Excellent in scripting with Matlab and/or Python tools and with relevant experience of CFD modelling (e.g. OpenFOAM/ SedFOAM) and physical (laboratory) hydraulic modelling is desirable.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a relevant field
• Strong knowledge of seabed dynamics, hydrodynamics and sediment transport modelling
• Proficiency in engineering software such as OpenFOAM/SedFoam, Delft3D, MIKE21, Plaxis or similar hydrodynamic and geotechnical analysis tools. The primary work location will be in either Denmark or the UK, based in one of our local offices, with the opportunity to spend a portion of your week working from home. You may expect some travelling in relation to your work, and there are potential opportunities, if desired, for placements abroad.
