International Airport of Heraklion, Crete S.A. is currently looking for a:
Airport Operations Center Manager
Role responsibilities:
Accountable for the creation of the Airport Operations Center and the team that will be leading its operation
Develops the APOC CONOPS and sets the KPIs
Defines the operational plan, resource allocations aligned to the plan and monitors the day-to-day delivery in Operations
Manages and leads during irregular operations to minimize the consequences to the operation and services
Coordinates with airport stakeholders, including airlines, ground handlers, government agencies, and service providers, to optimize airport operations and resources
Oversees airport processes, procedures, and workflows to ensure seamless coordination and integration across all operational areas, including terminal and airside operations, security, and customer services
Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), operational metrics, and service level agreements (SLAs) to identify areas for improvement and drive operational excellence
Fosters effective communication and collaboration among airport stakeholders, building strong relationships and partnerships to address common challenges and achieve shared objectives
Serves as a liaison between airport management, airlines, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate decision-making, resolve issues, and implement initiatives
Ensures compliance with all relevant safety regulations, security protocols, and aviation standards established by regulatory authorities such as the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and national aviation authorities
Complies with the safety management systems (SMS) to mitigate risks and align with the safety culture of the company
Develops Contingency and Business Continuity Plans to maintain the business running during interruptions or adverse conditions.
Oversees the implementation of plans and suggests improvements
Establishes performance monitoring systems and reporting mechanisms to track key performance indicators (KPIs), operational metrics, and service levels across airport operations
Analyzes data, trends and operational performance reports to identify opportunities for improvement, develops action plans and measures the impact of strategic initiatives
Leads and oversees the implementation of strategic projects such as Advanced Tower Operations and A-CDM, aimed at enhancing airport operations, improving passenger experience, and optimizing resource utilization
May act as the Management's representative during emergency situations, leads the Emergency Operations Center and guides the team to ensure Business Continuity Plans are implemented
Manages project timelines, budgets and resources effectively, coordinating with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure successful project delivery
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
Master's degree or relevant certifications are considered a plus
Minimum of 10 years of experience in airport management, aviation operations, or related roles, with demonstrated leadership and project management skills
Strong understanding of airport operations, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, with knowledge of European aviation regulations and standards
Competencies:
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive collaboration among diverse stakeholders
Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop data-driven strategies and solutions
Proficiency in project management tools and techniques, with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects from initiation to completion
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize competing demands and adapt to changing priorities and circumstances
