Description

Data Protection (Compliance) – Data Privacy Associate

The successful candidate will report directly to the Global Data Protection Officer (DPO) and will be a critical member of the global Data Protection Office. Supporting the Global DPO, you will be responsible for cultivating a data protection culture across the business that promotes the safeguarding of all of personal data within Carne. This position will support our global organisation.

What are the minimum requirements you need for the role?


  • Hold a Third level Qualification
  • Graduates welcome (Ideally 1 years of experience in the funds industry or data privacy, compliance or related field.)
  • Relevant Data Privacy qualification – IoB / UCD CDPO, CIPPE, CIPM and/or other would be an advantage
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Office suite – particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Strong desire to develop a career within a privacy / data protection role.
  • Knowledge of a range of standards including ISO 27001.

What is your role and your responsibilities?
  • Deputise for the Carne DPO as required and as contact point for regulators and data subjects.
  • Manage data incidents and breaches and maintain the global data incident log. Work with stakeholders in other functions to reconcile log against those held by other teams.
  • Monitor the DPO mailbox and associated case management system, triaging cases that require DPO prioritisation.
  • Maintain, review and audit Register of Processing Activities (ROPA).
  • Executing data protection and privacy monitoring and testing reviews and reporting outcome.
  • Work with the Carne DPO to complete an annual gap analysis exercise and ensure any risks or challenges are documented, reported and mitigated.
  • Review, log, and oversee the response to data subject rights requests.
  • Work with the business in the review of data protection impact assessments and other Privacy by Design / Default oversight reviews. Ensure ongoing review of previously completed assessments. Work with key stakeholders to enhance the process for all privacy impact assessments for greater efficiency and robustness.
  • Ensure the ongoing review and adoption of policies, procedures, privacy and cookie notices related to data privacy.
  • Manage registrations with Supervisory Authorities in jurisdictions where registration is required.
  • Guide business leads seeking to process or transfer protected data. Focus will include Transfer Impact Assessments. Assist with determining if assessments are required and/or adequate, and if any additional supplementary measures are required.
  • Assist with reviews of Legal Agreements and Data Protection Agreements as required.
  • Develop and roll out privacy training, communications, and awareness campaigns (both mandatory and targeted training) across the business to reinforce privacy policies, procedures, and practices, including preparation of material for Data Privacy week and DPO monthly clinics.
  • Supporting the DPO to meet Board, Committee and other reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams advising on privacy related matters and ensuring adherence to internal policies and privacy laws.
  • Respond to internal and external ad hoc privacy queries.
  • Assist in the development and oversight of group-wide data strategy with associated data deletion protocols to align with policy.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of data protection legislation and regulation, and monitor impact of proposed upcoming changes in data privacy laws and practice.
  • Assist with relevant internal audits and investigations as required.
