Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Switchgear Designer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing electrical switchgear solutions that meet customer specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, design principles, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical switchgear systems, including low, medium, and high voltage switchgear.
• Develop detailed design specifications, schematics, and layouts for switchgear assemblies.
• Conduct feasibility studies and perform necessary calculations to ensure designs meet performance and safety standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather requirements and provide design solutions.
• Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to create and modify electrical schematics and mechanical designs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, UL, etc.) and local regulations.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and installation manuals.
• Conduct testing and validation of switchgear designs to ensure reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to address design-related issues during production.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers and field engineers regarding switchgear products.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in electrical switchgear design, with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, including power distribution and protection systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and electrical design tools.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electrical equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant certifications.
• Experience with software tools for configuration of switchgear assemblies, including non standard configurations where detailed design is required.
• Strong working knowledge of switchgear design specifications and SLD interpretation for high end clients.
• Experience with electrical design and simulation tools like ETAP.
