About the role
The New Zealand Government has recently announced a major boost in the funding for cancer medicines, significantly improving access to vital therapies for people living in New Zealand. With the introduction of up to 26 new cancer treatments, we need expertise like yours on board to support their delivery.
Working in a supportive, collaborative environment, you’ll play a key role in delivering diagnostic, investigative, and treatment services, ensuring each patient receives personalised and effective care.
This will include the following:
· Providing specialised care across inpatient, outpatient, and day stay patients
· Leading patient treatment programmes and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to craft individualised care plans
· Using your expertise to shape the future of cancer care in New Zealand
Salary, benefits and leave:
Salary
· Medical Oncologists (Senior Medical Officers) receive a base salary relative to their level of experience as per a collective agreement. This is agreed upon at the time of the job offer, and there is a 15-step pay scale to progress through on a yearly basis.
· Medical Oncologists can earn more on top of their base salary with additional allowances for overtime etc. depending on location.
Additional benefits:
· Reimbursement of registration and practicing certificate fees
· Professional indemnity insurance covered by Health NZ
· An annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance of NZ $16,000
· A relocation package for international candidates
Leave
We offer generous annual, sick, and parental leave entitlements, as well as 12 paid public holidays. If you are travelling for your CME, a bonus is that you can take annual leave directly afterwards.
What you need to work here:
· Professional Registration: you must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand and hold an Annual Practising Certificate
· Work Visa: Oncologists are on Tier one of the Immigration Green List, making you eligible to apply for a Straight to Residence Visa before you arrive
