POSITION SUMMARY
Hospitality Academy is seeking to appoint a Dean of Academic Development & Innovation. The Dean of Academic Development & Innovation will be responsible for shaping and advancing the Hospitality Academy's academic strategy, curriculum development, and innovation initiatives within the realm of hospitality education.
With strategic oversight of the academic programs, integrating cutting-edge pedagogical practices, technology, and industry trends that meet the demands of the current labor market globally to ensure the Academy remains at the forefront of hospitality education. This role demands a strategic thinker with a passion for academic excellence, as well as a dynamic leader who can foster collaboration, drive change, and support the success of faculty and students alike.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative academic programs, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the hospitality industry.
Take a leadership role in establishing strategic partnerships and oversee the implementation of processes and materials in accordance with university and college guidelines, as well as collective partnership agreements.
Work in close partnership with Sales, Admissions, Academic Support and other areas of the organization to create, maintain and expand programming that will meet community and workforce needs and advance the mission of Hospitality Academy as a whole.
Ensure that all programs meet applicable legislation and accreditation guidelines and standards, and direct periodic review of all courses and programs, demonstrating use of assessment to improve offerings.
Lead, manage and be accountable for a team of faculty and staff within the division.
Foster a culture of continuous learning, research, and academic excellence among faculty members.
Oversee the preparation of program reviews and self-studies for accrediting agencies.
Take overall responsibility for activities to support the teaching/learning process.
Ensure the effective use of learning management systems (LMS) and other digital tools to support both in-person and remote learning environments.
Make research-based recommendations for implementation of teaching and learning technology.
Foster a student-centered environment, conducive to inclusion, collaboration, innovation, development and employability.
Work with the stakeholders and leadership team to advance the mission of the Hospitality Academy as a whole.
Perform related duties as assigned by Stakeholders.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Strategic thinker with a strong ability to drive academic innovation and forward-thinking solutions.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and industry partners.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex challenges in academic administration.
Experience with academic technology tools, digital learning platforms, and data-driven decision-making. Moodle LMS preferred.
Experience identifying and negotiating mutually beneficial partnerships with educational organizations, and cultivating and maintaining relationships.
